Committed to advancing our apparel industry with compliance and integrity

Who We are

The RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) is a private, national tripartite initiative working to ensure that every garment worker in Bangladesh can go to work without fear for their safety. At the heart of our mission and vision is a simple but powerful belief: a safe and healthy workplace is a right, not a benefit.

Established in 2020, the RSC builds on the hard‑earned progress made in factory safety and brings together representatives from Industry, Global Fashion Brands, and Global and Local Trade Unions – all united by a shared responsibility to protect workers’ lives.

The RSC was created to protect the lives, dignity, and well-being of millions of RMG workers by delivering effective, practical, and sustainable workplace safety programs across more than 1,900 garment factories supplying international brands. Our long‑term vision is to extend this protection to all export‑oriented RMG factories in Bangladesh, so that no worker is left behind and safe working conditions become a shared standard across the sector.

Through a worker‑centred and solution‑oriented approach, we support factories and brands with a comprehensive and credible safety and compliance system. Guided by transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, the RSC remains responsive to the everyday realities workers face—ensuring that workplace safety is not only a compliance requirement, but a lived experience that supports sustainable livelihoods and a stronger industry.
